Welcome to VILF, the throbbing vegan heart of San Francisco. Here you will find the greatest reviews and most exciting events happening around town.
Today, you are subjected to a bunch of products that I have bought and eaten recently. I have way more, but it takes a long time to find good ones so I’m going to drip feed them to you over the coming months.
Subscribe and you will get restaurant reviews and cool events you can go to and more crap like this and a formidable air of superiority.
This isn’t any regular listacle. You have to understand how many god-awful products I subject myself to in order to get to these. These have my hard-won recommendation, they are to be respected.
Vlasic Pickle Balls
This is the first thing I ate in 2025 along with a super big gulp. These are like cheetos but way better and pickle flavored. You understand. They can be found on Amazon for cheap when you’re not sold out, or at the 7/11 in the Richmond. I haven’t checked the other 7/11s. Someone, please keep me posted.
Trader Joe’s Boozy Bottles
I was expecting these to be bad, BUT THEY WERE GOOD. Little chocolate bottles filled with a small amount of very boozy syrupy cognac. And it’s really cheap. Does life get any better?
Field Roast Burger
Some say I only really liked these because I got them for $1 each at a sale at Grocery Outlet. I guess we’ll never know. I normally rate Field Roast as higher than most of the vegan brands out there. Not their cold cuts, they’re not great, but these guys are alright by me. Some of their sausages are a bit slimy out of the package which isn't that pleasant. But this guy doesn't have that. And it's tasty. Honestly I just air fry these and eat them as is. No bun or anything.
Olipop Banana Cream
This drink can only be described as extremely fucked up, I recommend that you try it. Through trial and error we have discovered you really only want to have at most half of a can before the euphoria is replaced with dread, share it with someone. We have also found through our experiments that it makes a nice drink mixed with Fernet.
Mother In Law’s Vegan Kimchi
I ate so much god damn bad kimchi this last month or two. This one was the best. Trader Joes one comes in a medium distance second. I will take more recommendations. This one’s the priciest thing on the list at like $10, they’ve got it at expensive places like Rainbow Grocery and the like. They have a non-vegan version so watch out.
Primal Spirit Hot&Spicy Vegan Jerky
Ok so the thing to know about this brand of vegan jerky is that you can find them for like $1.60 and there are a lot of flavors. But also the different flavors are essentially different products. Some are a gluten base, some are soy, and this one is shitaake mushrooms. I think this is the best one, followed by the soy ones, followed by the gluten ones which are too chewy. But maybe you like that, you salty dog.
Please suggest more actually good products
